When I got my first real job out of University I found dressing for work really intimidating. It seemed to me that between the corporate dress code and my meager post grad budget there was little room for personal style. Only recently have I begun experimenting with my 9-5 style and I have realized that dressing for the office doesn’t have to be a chore. As a rule of thumb I try to balance bolder prints and statement jewellery with more neutral pieces to maintain a professional image. One of the biggest challenges for me has been finding ways to add softer, more feminine pieces to the structured basics that make up a work wardrobe. So, when I saw Club Monaco’s Aubrey skirt I immediately fell in love with the pale pink floral pattern and the professional silhouette. It is the classic pencil skirt with a touch of whimsy. I also love the ultra flattering colour block accent details on the side and back panels. I paired mine with a drapey white silk blouse to play up the romantic summery print.
